Every year, cities, counties and municipalities face a common question:  “How do we deliver more for less?” This issue becomes a greater challenge with aging infrastructures, eroding revenue bases, progressive regulatory pressures, and increasingly complex equipment and technology.

ESG currently has more professional design engineers in management roles than any comparable company in our industry.  While providing operations and maintenance services for our clients, we have found that we can often complete facility upgrades and expansions at a significant cost and schedule savings, by using a design-build process. This approach has saved many of our client/partners both time and money in meeting system needs, while lowering O&M costs and extending the service life of facilities and equipment.

Waycross, GA
Project Spotlight

ESG has partnered with the City of Waycross since November 2003, providing both engineering and utility-operations services. The initial task included renegotiation of the city’s consent order with Georgia EPD. This resulted in a savings of over $3,000,000 to the city by eliminating consent-order-mandated construction projects that had marginal to nonexistent impact on the city’s permit compliance challenges. The success of this task led to the city's contracting with ESG for the operation of their entire wastewater and water utility, which had a history of NPDES permit noncompliance and fines. ESG later completed the design and was responsible for overseeing the construction of an upgrade to the city’s wastewater treatment plant that was under an EDP-mandated deadline.
