Macon, GA (November 1, 2011)—ESG Operations, Inc. has been awarded the contract to operate and manage Forsyth County, Georgia’s unique Gravimetric Membrane Wastewater Treatment Plant effective November 1, 2011. ESG Operations is honored to partner with Forsyth County in the operation, maintenance and management of their water and wastewater systems. The addition of this 500,000 GPD wastewater plant broadens the scope of services for the County to include five wastewater plants, two belt presses, two centrifuges and one water plant.
ESG’s operations and maintenance efforts have resulted in numerous awards of excellence for Forsyth County, including Gold Awards for four County wastewater facilities and the coveted Plant of the Year award for 1 MGD in the Non-Discharging Category.
“ESG is very excited about the addition of the James Creek Plant to our already vibrant partnership with Forsyth County,” stated John Eddlemon, Vice President of ESG Operations. “We are honored to serve the citizens of Forsyth County and look forward to continuing to expand our partnership.”
The Forsyth County project has a variety of unique facilities unlike any of ESG’s other projects. Forsyth County’s systems include two Aqua Aerobics sequencing batch reactor facilities, one extended aeration facility, one Zenon membrane facility, and one Kubota membrane facility. Each of the five facilities are located throughout the County and are separated by 25 miles making it challenging to perform operations and maintenance activities by Class II or higher operators 7 days per week as required by governmental regulations. In addition, the permits for these facilities have the most stringent effluent limitations set forth by the regulatory agencies in the four southeastern states in which ESG operates.
“The transition of operations firms at the James Creek WRF has gone seamlessly. ESG has improved sludge dewatering and centrifuge operation saving money on polymer without sacrificing sludge dryness. All in all, I am very happy with the operation of James Creek under ESG,” stated John Marshall, Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager for Forsyth County.
