OPELIKA, ALABAMA

ESG’s historic partnership with the City of Opelika began in November 2005. The ESG-Opelika partnership is a true model for public-private partnerships. ESG’s staff of over 70 full-time associates manage all facets of the city’s Public Works Department. including the management, operations and maintenance of the city’s wastewater treatment facilities, collection and distribution system, cemeteries, grounds, vehicle fleet, and parks and recreation. In the first year of the partnership, ESG was able to save the city over $740,000—and reduce the number of customer complaints by over 90%!

ESG is proud to be a corporate sponsor of Opelika’s Miracle Field, which provides a world-class recreational facility for handicapped children and adults.

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GEORGIA

ESG Operations provides full-service operations and maintenance of Rockdale County’s entire wastewater utility operations. With a staff of 24, the scope of responsibilities includes 5 wastewater treatment facilities, 29 lift stations spread throughout the county, an analytical lab, and a sophisticated anaerobic industrial pretreatment facility. ESG also manages Rockdale County’s Industrial Pretreatment Program, acting as a regulatory agency with experienced personnel to protect the county’s wastewater facilities from compliance issues. Since taking over the facilities, ESG has developed monthly reports that include all compliance issues, financial issues such as projected costs, and customer service issues. ESG has also implemented the George Butler Master series (GBA)—a web-based asset-management system that allows for effective management of work orders and tracks predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance.

WAYCROSS, GEORGIA

ESG has partnered with the City of Waycross since November 2003, providing both engineering and utility-operations services. The initial task included renegotiation of the city’s consent order with Georgia EPD. This resulted in a savings of over $3,000,000 to the city by eliminating consent-order-mandated construction projects that had marginal to nonexistent impact on the city’s permit compliance challenges. The success of this task led to the city's contracting with ESG for the operation of their entire wastewater and water utility, which had a history of NPDES permit noncompliance and fines. ESG later completed the design and was responsible for overseeing the construction of an upgrade to the city’s wastewater treatment plant that was under an EDP-mandated deadline.
